Sedation

In our practice, we are deeply committed to not only providing the most cutting edge techniques and treatments for your children but also ensuring their optimal health and recovery afterward. As a whole body focused practice, we offer various sedation options tailored to meet the unique needs of each child, always with their safety and comfort as our top priorities.

01

Nitrous Oxide Sedation (Laughing Gas)

We often use nitrous oxide, also referred to as laughing gas, for children who might feel a bit anxious but don’t require deep sedation. This is a mild sedative that is administered through a small mask placed over the nose. It helps your child relax while remaining awake and responsive during the procedure. The effects wear off quickly, allowing your child to return to their regular activities soon after their appointment.

02

In-Office IV Sedation with an Anesthesiologist

For more extensive procedures or for children who experience anxiety, are young in age, or have special healthcare needs, we offer in-office IV sedation with a licensed anesthesiologist. This allows your child to be deeply sedated or asleep during the procedure, ensuring they are completely comfortable. Our anesthesiologist closely monitors your child’s vital signs throughout the entire process to ensure safety and efficacy. By providing this service in our office, we maintain a familiar and comforting environment, eliminating the need for a hospital visit.

General Anesthesia

In certain cases, we may recommend general anesthesia performed in a surgery center. This is reserved for extensive dental work, patients with special needs, or those who are too young to cooperate safely with other forms of sedation. Under general anesthesia, your child will be completely asleep and unaware of the procedure.

Post-Operative Care with Our Detox Plan

As part of our commitment to holistic and biological dentistry, we recognize the importance of supporting your child’s body both before and after dental procedures. We are proud to offer our proprietary and copyrighted Detox Plan to ensure your child’s optimal recovery post-operatively.

This detox plan is designed from a functional and biological perspective, focusing on helping the body eliminate any residual effects of sedation or anesthesia, reducing inflammation, and promoting healing. Our approach includes:

  • Nutrient Support: We provide recommendations for specific vitamins and minerals that aid in the detoxification process, such as Vitamin C, which supports the immune system, and Magnesium, which helps with muscle relaxation and overall recovery.
  • Hydration: Proper hydration is essential for detoxification and recovery. We emphasize the importance of increased water intake post-operatively to help flush out any remaining anesthesia or medications from the body.
  • Dietary Guidance: We suggest a diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods, such as leafy greens and berries, to reduce post-operative inflammation and promote quicker healing.
  • Natural Detoxifiers: Our plan may include the use of natural supplements like activated charcoal or chlorella, known for their ability to bind and eliminate toxins from the body gently.
  • Gentle Movement: Encouraging light physical activity post-procedure can help stimulate the lymphatic system, aiding in the detoxification process.

By integrating our Detox Plan into your child’s post-operative care, we not only support their immediate recovery but also contribute to their long-term health and well-being. We believe that a holistic approach to dentistry, where we consider the whole body and its functions, is crucial in providing the highest quality care for your child. Our commitment to using functional and low-toxin materials, along with our ongoing education in the latest biological dental practices, allows us to offer safe, effective, and compassionate care every step of the way.
