Improved Airway Function
Dental expansion can help alleviate breathing problems associated with a constricted or narrow upper jaw. A narrow upper jaw can lead to a crowded oral cavity, which in turn can impede the proper development of the airway. By widening the upper jaw, dental expansion can create more space for the tongue and soft tissues in the throat, reducing the risk of airway obstruction, especially during sleep. This can be especially important in addressing issues like snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.
